My dolls are made of leather, wool, calicos, velvets, furs, shells, buttons, turquoise, precious stones, and trade beads. Horse hair and yarn is used for their hair.

For Native American children, play, and through their toys they learned the skills they needed in adulthood. The custom within some Native American tribes was for the grandparents to make the first toys, such as dolls, teepees, sleds, spears, canoes, and bow and arrows for their grandchildren. These were used to explain the tribes heritage and future responsibilities.
